NDMVA teams work with local partners to increase access to education and other essential social services. By collaborating with local organizations, NDMVA aims to make a lasting impression on the lives of individuals and families in the region. As a member, you will serve at the St. Francis Center for 10.5 months, September-July, full-time, providing mentoring and tutoring support to students and adults.

About the St. Francis Center:
The Siena Youth Center of the St. Francis Center is a non-profit organization serving North Fair Oaks and the surrounding community. Our mission is to create a strong, healthy community that has the skills and resources needed to determine their own future. Our five main focus areas are physical health, mental health, leadership development, academics, and community building. We serve over 100 youth on a daily basis in a high-energy supportive community environment led by caring adults who are passionate about coaching and mentoring young people.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Youth and Parent Program Assistant for the St. Francis Center. In this role, you will split your time working at the St. Francis Center’s main office and our community center, the Siena Youth Center. At the St. Francis Center, you will support our Parent Empowerment program, which aims to provide ESL and other educational opportunities to parents from our community. At the Siena Youth Center, you will work in our after school program, providing academic and enrichment opportunities for youth.
Specific Responsibilities
- Parent Empowerment Program
- Serve within our Parent Empowerment Program at Holy Family School to:
- Provide English language support to adult English language learners. Support parents in accessing resources that help them work towards their goal/s.
- Assist adult learners with navigating applications and paperwork as needed for GED registration, community college registration, benefits, and scholarships.
- Provide lunch coverage for Holy School Family students
- Assist Parent Empowerment Coordinator to work with community partners to implement monthly parent empowerment workshops in areas such as financial literacy, family health & wellness, economic mobility, and/or entrepreneurship.
- Assist Parent Empowerment Coordinator to design and implement monthly family nights to support cohesion and school community.
- Assist with organizing food and clothing resources for the community.
Youth Program
- Assist students with their academic needs, including homework help and one-on-one tutoring.
- In collaboration with staff, plan, organize, and co-lead a weekly enrichment class for youth, covering topics that are engaging, educational, and relevant to their interests.
- Support youth during SYC programs, ensuring all rules, regulations, and safety protocols are followed.
- Organize and maintain the SYC program space, ensuring it is clean, safe, and well-stocked with necessary materials.
- Attend training sessions as needed to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in youth development and program management.

All are expected to engage in activities that contribute to the general well being of the organization. Unless specifically stated otherwise, staff should expect to:
- Adhere to and demonstrate St. Francis Center core value of “Compassion not Judgment” in their work on a daily basis.
- Participate in meetings, workgroups and committees such as strategic planning work.
- Attend and participate in community and volunteer events when practical. Support program development through activities such as providing support at events, attending and bringing guests to events, networking in the community, and serving on community task forces/working groups.
Qualifications
● Pursuing associate’s or bachelor’s degree
● A minimum of two years outreach experience desired
● Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
● Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
● Bilingual in Spanish/English is a necessity.
