The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water has two openings for Senior Water Resource Control Engineers in the North Central California Section. One position will supervise the District 29 Unit and one position will supervise the District 30 Unit. Both positions will be located in the Monterey office location located at 1 Lower Ragsdale Drive, Building 1, Suite 120, Monterey, CA 93940.
Duties:
Under the general supervision of a Supervising Water Resource Control Engineer and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
The Senior Water Resource Control Engineers will supervise field engineers, other technical staff, and clerical personnel. They will provide leadership and establish program priorities in line with directives received from the Supervising WRCE Engineer, North Central Section, as well as from the program’s Headquarters in Sacramento. They will assign work duties, assure training of staff, provide solutions to technical problems presented by staff, evaluate the performance of staff, take necessary disciplinary actions and assure that paperwork and other actions necessary to support the functions of the District office are completed in a satisfactory and timely manner. They will review and approve work produced by staff related to sanitary survey inspections and reports, permit reports and conditions, enforcement actions and corrective action plans for compliance with the Division’s practices, policies, and guidance. They will provide feedback to staff, mentor staff, set District goals and benchmarks, sign timesheets and approve time off.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
