Are you concerned about the rise of right-wing authoritarianism among youth and young adults? Are you an outgoing, compassionate, and courageous young adult ready to do something about it? If so, being a Campus Chapter Leader for Up Next USA is the opportunity for you!Β
Chapter Leaders directly oversee campus chapters of Up Next USA aiming to reach out to and mobilize their fellow students in favor of progressive values and policies through social media content creation, campus events, and other creative activities. They hold campus events bi-weekly throughout the academic year reporting directly to their respective regional director concerning the activity of chapter members, the events held, and the students reached.Β

Responsibilities and Duties:Β
π£οΈ Recruit your fellow students to mobilize against extremism and hate.Β
π€ Hold weekly campus events to build community.
β³ Report directly to the Regional Director concerning the activity of chapter members throughout the academic year, the campus events held, and the students reached.
Qualifications:Β
π Currently enrolled as a student at the college or university where the chapter is based.
π€ Strong interpersonal and communication skills β able to engage others authentically, respectfully, and compellingly.
β€οΈ Genuine care for people β motivated by empathy and a desire to build a more just, inclusive, and loving world.
πΊπ² Patriotic and proud to be American, because patriotism is not just a conservative or nativist value but is the a proud characteristic of any immigrant, citizen-to-be, naturalized citizen, or native-born citizen.Β
π₯ Passionate about progressive values β understands the stakes of resisting authoritarianism and inequality.
π Bridge-builder mindset β willing to compassionately engage with students who may disagree, misunderstand, or feel alienated from progressive causes
π£οΈ Comfortable with public speaking and event facilitation β able to lead group discussions, rallies, or meetings with confidence and humility
π± Familiar with or willing to learn social media outreach strategies (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) to help creatively mobilize students
π§ Organized and self-motivated β able to plan bi-weekly events, communicate with the regional director, and keep basic records of chapter activities
π« Collaborative leadership style β focused on uplifting others, building community, and supporting the growth of chapter members
π¨ Creative thinker β excited to try innovative and culturally resonant ways to engage students (music, art, storytelling, memes, etc.)
β³ Able to commit for at least one academic semester, ideally the full academic year
π¬ Willing to receive training and mentorship from the regional director and contribute feedback for improvement.
