Modified Fall Cheer Head Coach
Haviland Middle School, part of the Hyde Park Central School District, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to fill the vacant position of Modified Fall Cheer Head Coach. This is a stipend position under the HPTA bargaining unit.
The Modified Fall Cheer Head Coach will be responsible for leading and developing a positive and supportive cheerleading program for middle school student-athletes. This role focuses on fundamental skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fostering a love for cheerleading in a fun and encouraging environment.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct daily after-school practices, focusing on basic cheer techniques, jumps, chants, and fundamental stunting appropriate for the modified level.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate routines for modified sporting events (e.g., modified football or basketball games) and potential school performances.
- Supervise student-athletes during all practices and events, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Establish and enforce clear team rules and expectations in line with school policies.
- Motivate and inspire team members, promoting a positive team culture and good sportsmanship.
- Communicate regularly with student-athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and student progress.
- Manage team equipment and uniforms.
- Complete all necessary administrative tasks related to the cheerleading program.
Qualifications:
- NYS Coaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one before the season starts is required.
- Previous cheerleading experience as a participant or coach is preferred.
- Experience working with middle school-aged students is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cheerleading safety guidelines and regulations for younger athletes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all participants.
- A commitment to the athletic and personal development of middle school students.
Schedule:
- Tentative Start Date: September 4th
- Hours: After school, typically weekdays. Specific practice and event schedules will be determined based on the school's athletic calendar.
