Special Education Teacher Consultant (summers off) - Copper Country Intermediate School District - Hancock, MI

The Copper Country Intermediate School District is hiring a Special Education Teacher Consultant in Hancock, Michigan.

In this role, you’ll work closely with teachers, school psychologists, and support staff to provide academic and behavioral strategies that help students thrive. You’ll also support special education evaluations, assist with IEP development, and offer professional learning to build capacity in our districts.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • $55,300 – $80,300 annual starting salary based on education and experience.
  • Health, dental, vision, life, and accidental death/dismemberment insurance.
  • No health insurance needed? We’ll pay you $643.19/month instead (yes, even during the summer break).
  • Paid sick days (10), personal days (4), and paid holidays.

  • Full-time school-year position with a start date in August of 2025. Summers off.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING.

  • Collaborate with our Multidisciplinary Special Education Diagnostic Team to support evaluations and assessments.
  • Provide guidance and ideas for behavioral and academic interventions.
  • Support student assistance teams and attend meetings in assigned districts.
  • Consult with educators and families to better understand and address student needs.
  • Offer professional development and technical support for special education staff.
  • Share your knowledge of special education laws, best practices, and instructional strategies.
  • Help build systems that monitor student progress and support inclusive teaching.
  • Occasionally carry a student caseload to provide direct services when needed.
  • Travel between schools and districts as part of your work.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

  • A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Learning Disabilities or any area of Special Education required.
  • Master’s degree and at least 3 years of experience working in education required.
  • Knowledge of special education rules and regulations, and a passion for helping others grow.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, educators, and community agencies.
  • A calm, confident approach that embodies clear communication skills.
  • Professionalism that inspires, teaches, and motivates educators and families.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and student-centered practices.
  • A willingness to travel within the ISD and attend occasional meetings outside typical hours.
