Job Title: Lab Assistant
FT/PT: Part-Time
Permanent/Temporary: Temporary

Job Responsibilities: Prepare reagents and equipment, maintain laboratory safety, stock chemistry labs, clean lab
benches and equipment, set up chemistry experiments, test new chemistry experiments, clean and organize labs,
maintain a clean and tidy work environment.

Preferences for qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of first year Chemistry, CHEM 1215 and CHEM 1225 or equivalent.
Solid understanding of laboratory safety principles.
Solid understanding of chemistry principles and techniques.
Experience in chemistry laboratories.
Ability to calculate molarity and prepare reagents to a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to carry out dilutions.
Ability to prepare buffers.
Ability to accurately titrate strong acids and bases to determine concentration.
Familiar with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Excellent organizational skills.
Motivated and diligent.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Work study eligible.
Completion of the organic chemistry lab series, CHEM 2315 & 2325.
Ability to troubleshoot and fix lab problems.
Ability to work independently.
Experience with experimentation.
Start Date: 20 August 2025

Expected # of Hours: 5-10 per Week
