VOX ATL Near-Peer Outreach Intern
VOX ATL Near-Peer Outreach Intern
VOX ATL welcomes applicants to apply to serve as a fall semester outreach near-peer intern to represent VOX ATL outside of the community and create opportunities for VOXers to connect within the space. This is a new opportunity, and is perfect for anyone who is interested in community outreach, communications, marketing, event planning and coordination, and improving their facilitation and public speaking skills. This role is also great for those who enjoy working collaboratively in an intergenerational environment, modeling youth-adult power-sharing while advancing teen leadership in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop agendas and facilitate workshops
- Plan and organize community convenings for fellow VOXers, as well as curated, media-centric events for teens in Atlanta.
- Attend training/prep sessions
- Assist with training for additional outreach facilitators.
- Create and maintain a VOXy safe and welcoming environment that upholds VOX ATL values and helps participants to feel free to use their voice.
- Support the program evaluation (collecting and using feedback from sessions for ongoing improvement)
- Support end-of-semester showcase & VOX-a-Palooza in the spring (preferred)
- Submit confidentiality and payment request forms, and IRS-related paperwork as needed; track your hours (VOX will show you how to do this)
Schedule & Compensation:
- This is a semester-long internship (August-December) and will end on the final day of programming. This position averages 10 hours per week.
- The Near-Peer Outreach Intern must be able to attend Tuesday intern meetings, as well as planning meetings ahead of tabling/outreach events, and occasional Saturday community events at VOX ATL, as well as out in the community.
