HPC Lead Cloud Architect/Instructor

HPC Lead Cloud Architect/Instructor – Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (Harrisburg, PA):

HPC Lead Cloud Architect - improve the operational capabilities of the University’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) Research Lab infrastructure; manage cloud environments and contribute to the development of best practices; maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of the University’s computer systems, networks, servers, and switches; install and upgrade computer components and software; automate and monitor virtual machines and manage virtual servers; and train and mentor HPC Research Lab interns.

 

Program Development/Automation – design, develop, automate, and maintain cloud-based solutions; develop programs to automate mundane tasks and integrate automation processes; and develop and maintain a cloud portal where teachers and students can log in.

 

Grant Support/Lead Administrator – serve as the technical expert to HUST faculty and researchers for grants submitted to the National Science Foundation (NSF); compose the technical grant documents and explain the functions and operations of the proposed grant computer cluster; serve as lead system administrator for designing and deploying the grant computer cluster; and work with the Open Science Grid (OSG) Consortium to integrate the NSF funded cluster with the OSG Network.

 

Instructor - teach up to two courses per semester in the Computer and Information Sciences and Information Systems and Information Technology programs, such as Programming 1, Programming 2, Data Structures, or Essential Algorithms.

 

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2 years of experience deploying and supporting a High-Performance Computing (HPC) cloud environment using OpenStack; managing virtualization platforms and virtual machines (VMs) using VMware, Proxmox, and oVirt; managing cloud environments using AWS and DigitalOcean; managing containers systems using Docker; and managing and operating Kubernetes using Rancher and Helm. Travel (<5%).
