GENERAL INFORMATION

Title: SY 25-26 5th Grade Gifted Opportunities Licensed Teacher (GO Center)

Salary Grade: 10-month Teacher
FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Building Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY

 

To develop and implement an educational program that effectively provides gifted services to eligible students.    

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Provides a student-centered learning environment that empowers every student to excel academically, develop strong social/emotional skills, and work productively as an individual and as a team.
  • Collaborates with colleagues within the school and the division, to enhance professional growth and further develop teaching/learning strategies that lead to successful outcomes for all students.
  • Commits to contributing to and functioning as a Professional Learning Community, dedicated to creating common formative assessments, analyzing individual student data, and implementing evidence-based intervention and enrichment strategies to meet the diverse needs of the students.
  • Displays a strong knowledge of all content areas and the ability to effectively engage all students in mastering the Standards of Learning.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the characteristics of students identified as gifted and implements strategies to support each student’s continuous academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Develops a strong partnership between school and home, with proactive communication and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Maintains a focus on equity and inclusiveness.
  • Demonstrates long-range planning and knowledge of each subject area.
  • Completes daily written lesson plans that fulfill learning objectives consistent with LCS' curricula and SOL and which enrich the curriculum provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Plans for individual student differences.
  • Works to achieve division/school/department objectives.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching methods.
  • Utilizes various forms of technology and hands-on opportunities.
  • Provides opportunities for student responses and gives appropriate feedback to students.
  • Supports school-wide activities.
  • Utilizes effective motivational strategies.

  • Cooperates with other teachers to exchange ideas.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


 

  • Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia teacher's license with an elementary endorsement.
  • Preference is given to applicants with a gifted endorsement. If an applicant is hired for the position and does not possess the endorsement, it must be obtained within two years of employment.
