Senior Social Services Specialist

What you’ll do: 

  • Assist the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman with the administration, coordination and supervision of the statewide Ombudsman Program.
  • Provide technical assistance to Regional Ombudsman Coordinators as needed.
  • Be the Lead Coordinator for annual statewide Advocacy Day, including tracking legislation during legislative session.
  • Be the Lead Coordinator for Residents' Rights Month.
  • Participate in monitoring activities for the Regional Ombudsman Programs, including on- site visits.
  • Assist with developing and revising printed materials of the program, including posters, brochures, and booklets.
  • Create social media messages for program outreach, education and recruitment.
  • Be responsible for the Ombudsman Program webpage, including working with ITSD for updates and changes as needed.
  • Assist with developing and presenting trainings for residents, families, volunteers, community groups, and long-term care staff as needed.
  • Be the Lead Relocation Specialist- coordinates facility closures between the Regional Ombudsman and Survey Agency.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Human Services, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Public or Business Administration, Gerontology, Education or a closely related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Complete required Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program Training.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Time management skills and possess the ability to work independently within program policy.
  • Attention to detail and a creative thinker.
  • Knowledge about long-term care settings and regulations is highly preferred.
