Manager, Social Work, (LICSW)

JOB SUMMARY: The Manager, Social Work (Clinical) is responsible for providing coordination of training, clinical guidance, resources, supervision and assistance as outlined by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education’s regulatory requirements associated with the Social Worker licensure of other Social Workers in the program. As the Manager, Social Work (Clinical), you will carry a small caseload providing case management, therapeutic interventions, and crisis management. The Manager, Social Work (Clinical) will provide counseling services, develop IEPs and related documents, and work with families on a plethora of matters related to school and outside of school issues, as well as major point of contact for families to stay in contact with the school.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Provides administrative supervision of 6 FTEs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Related Services:

  • Addresses issues in a child's living environment that impact their adjustment in school, encompassing home, school, and community settings.
  • Mobilizes family, school, and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational program.
  • Provides supervision for Social Worker(s), Behavior Specialist(s) and other members for the school’s clinical team.
  • Collaborate with Behavioral Specialists and other clinical team members to develop and implement intervention plans for student support.
  • Ensures staff complete and submit student attendance monitoring records, as well as all required reporting (including attendance records, intervention plans, CFSA and/or Court Referrals) in accordance with attendance/truancy policies.

SERVICES TO STUDENTS: 

  • Provides counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Develop intervention strategies aimed at enhancing academic achievement.
  • Assists children in developing appropriate social interaction skills.

SERVICES TO PARENTS/FAMILIES:

  • Collaborate with parents to facilitate their support in their children's school adjustment.
  • Provides resources and support to families to enhance the child's ability to function effectively in school and the community.
  • Help parents access programs available for students with special needs.

SCHOOL LIAISON:

  • Delivers professional development and collaborate with staff as needed to address the social and emotional needs of students.
  • Secures and coordinates community resources to address students' needs.
  • Identifies and reports instances of child abuse and neglect.
  • Provides case management for students and families as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW).
  • D.C. Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) required.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years working experience as a LICSW and knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations for serving in a school setting.
  • At least one year’s experience as a supervisor to other social workers and related professionals.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse staff and client population.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Software.
