Technical Co-Founder

Founding Engineer / Technical Co-Founder

Location: Remote (U.S.-based preferred)
Equity: Meaningful founding stake
Stage: Functional MVP, pre-seed, crowdfunding live
Tech Stack: Currently Bubble.io (migrating to a full-stack architecture)

About Us

TalkShop is a peer advising platform reinventing how students and young professionals get real, personalized guidance on college and careers. Instead of expensive consultants or vague online content, students book 1:1 video calls with top students and early professionals— and get answers from people who were just in their shoes.

We’ve built and beta tested an MVP (on Bubble.io) with hundreds of active advisors and full marketplace functionality (booking, payments, reviews, UGC, and more). Every session is recorded and transcribed — creating a rich dataset for AI-powered products like:

  • A paid knowledge base of real answers from student mentors
  • An intelligent chatbot trained on thousands of real Q&As
  • Career path mapping tools based on lived experience and conversation data

We’re now ready to move off Bubble and build the future of peer-to-peer guidance at scale.

The Role

We’re looking for a technical co-founder or founding engineer to join as the first engineering hire. You’ll take ownership of rebuilding our MVP on a scalable tech stack, leading product development, and building new AI tools powered by user insights and session data.

This is a hands-on, zero-to-one role — perfect for someone graduating from a top CS or engineering program who wants to own something meaningful from Day 1.

What You’ll Do

  • Own architecture and product development as we move off Bubble.io
  • Build scalable infrastructure for bookings, payments, chat, UGC, data, etc.
  • Design backend systems to store and analyze session data
  • Develop AI/ML-powered features like chatbots and career mapping tools
  • Work closely with the founder on product roadmap and go-to-market strategy
  • Help build a small but mighty engineering team over time

About You

  • CS grad (MS/PhD or recent alum) from a top-tier school (e.g. Stanford, MIT, CMU, Berkeley, etc.)
  • Full-stack capabilities — experience with modern web frameworks and databases
  • Strong interest in AI, data products, and real-world NLP applications
  • Passion for education, mentorship, or building something with mission and meaning
  • Startup mindset: scrappy, curious, collaborative, self-directed
  • Bonus: experience with Firebase, AWS, Supabase, OpenAI APIs, or TypeScript

Why Join Now

  • Work directly with a founder who's already built traction and a go-to-market machine
  • Build and ship real AI tools with a high-signal data foundation
  • Be part of the founding story — and get equity that reflects it
  • Create something that truly helps students and levels the playing field
