Administrative Intern – Comfort First, Inc.

Comfort First, Inc. is a medical device company focused on improving women’s health through innovative product design, including our patented ComfortSpec™ disposable vaginal speculum and ComfortSpec™ pelvic exam shorts.

Internship Overview:
We are seeking interns from programs such as Business administration, business development, entrepreneurship and innovation, operations management, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain and logistics Management, Industrial engineering, marketing, business finance, accounting and related product development or entrepreneurship programs.

This internship provides students with applied learning experience in process development and quality management. Interns will collaborate on creating new business workflows that enhance organizational efficiency, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster growth.

Responsibilities:

Business Workflow Development & Process Improvement

Responsibilities:

  • Map current administrative and operational processes using flowcharts or workflow software
  • Identify inefficiencies and propose solutions to streamline company operations
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and document new business workflows and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how to analyze and improve real-world business processes
  • Gain hands-on experience in drafting professional SOPs and workflow documentation
  • Learn how startups optimize operations for scalability and efficiency

Quality Management & Compliance Support

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in researching FDA compliance requirements and ISO quality management standards for medical device companies
  • Support the development of quality control checklists and protocols
  • Help maintain compliance documentation to ensure audit readiness and regulatory adherence

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain exposure to regulatory frameworks in the healthcare and medical device industries
  • Understand how to develop and maintain quality management systems (QMS)
  • Learn the fundamentals of regulatory compliance and risk management in business operations

Operational Efficiency & Strategic Growth Contribution

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current workflows to identify areas for cost and time-saving improvements
  • Assist in building tools (e.g., spreadsheets, dashboards) to track operational metrics and workflow efficiency
  • Participate in discussions on scaling operations and product distribution

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply strategic thinking to operational challenges in a growing startup
  • Develop skills in data analysis and performance tracking
  • Understand the relationship between process management and business growth

Leadership Collaboration & Communication

Responsibilities:

  • Attend weekly leadership meetings to observe executive decision-making (CEO/COO functions)
  • Prepare and present summary reports with findings and improvement recommendations
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, marketing, and administrative teams

  • Develop professional communication and presentation skills
  • Learn how executives make operational and strategic decisions
  • Gain a holistic understanding of startup leadership and organizational management

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a college or university program (Business, Communications, Supply Chain & Operations Management, or related field preferred)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Interest in women’s health or medical device innovation a plus

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain experience in startup operations and manufactoring
  • Understand FDA compliance basics for medical devices
  • Develop administrative, communication, and project management skills
