Produce Associate

Position: Produce Associate

Fresh produce is the first thing our customers see when they walk into Joseph’s. Our Produce Associates play a critical role in maintaining our quality standards and presentation of this department. Fresh produce is very perishable so our Produce Associates must have the ability to maintain quality and attention to detail. 

Routine Tasks: 

• Provide customer service up to the Joseph’s standard
• Maintain Joseph’s standards for product freshness and sanitation
• Sell products by providing customers with product information, answering questions and making suggestions
• Replenish, maintain, and rotate products and display cases
• Package and label products for self-service, and ensure product signage is accurate
• Cut and prepare fruits and vegetables for sale
• Unload product from delivery trucks, break down pallets and separate produce items in back room prep areas and walk in refrigerators
• Clean scales and cutting areas
• Operate knives, pallet jack, scale, and other Produce equipment
• Assist with other tasks as assigned

Qualifications: 

• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to deliver friendly, respectful, timely customer service
• Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems
• Ability to interpret and follow instructions
• Ability to work well with others
• Food preparation experience
• A passion for serving people

A Produce Associate performs their tasks primarily in the Produce department and the prep/backdoor receiving area. Work involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting products weighing up to 80 pounds. Work also includes frequent interaction with customers and fellow employees.
