Deputy Communications Director
The Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) is seeking a Deputy Communications Director to help shape and implement the Commission’s media and messaging strategy across traditional and digital platforms. Reporting directly to the Staff Directors, the Deputy will play a key role in crafting compelling content, engaging with the press, and advancing narrative strategies aligned with the priorities of the Commission Chairs and Members. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator who writes quickly and clearly, thinks strategically, and can translate complex and bipartisan policy issues into accessible and impactful messaging. Core responsibilities include drafting and editing press releases, talking points, and op-eds; supporting media outreach and press engagement; and expanding the Commission’s social media presence. Candidates with skills to create video content, data visualizations, and infographics to support the Commission’s publications and policy initiatives are encouraged to apply. The position is part of a collaborative team that values strong writing and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to produce high-quality work. Proficiency in Chinese and familiarity with the Commission’s mandate areas—such as human rights, rule of law, or U.S.-China policy—are considered assets but not required. This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C. The office is an equal opportunity employer.
