Technology Teacher (GLA )

Great Lakes Academy is hiring a Technology Teacher to join the team. Must have Michigan Teacher Certification and endorsement.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Technology Teacher to join our team. This role is vital in helping students become proficient and responsible users of technology, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a strong understanding of educational technology, and the ability to create a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

Develop and implement technology-focused lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.

Teach foundational skills in typing, digital literacy, coding, robotics, online safety, and media literacy.

Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.

Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.

Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.

Maintain and manage classroom technology resources, including computers, tablets, software, and online tools.

Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students

Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff

Regular and predictable attendance

Cognitive Demands:

Supervision of multiple students at once

Establishing routines and procedures

Maintaining a safe and orderly environment

Create and implement instructional plans

Participate in continuous professional development

Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs

Stand and walk frequently

Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat

Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year

Withstand a moderate noise level

Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary

Assist/lift students, as necessary

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Education, or a related field.

Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.

Strong knowledge of current educational technology tools, software applications, and instructional strategies.
