Crime Analyst

Department: Sheriff

Full-time, Hourly

Hourly Range: $35.60 - $53.40/hr

 

Job Summary

This position performs highly specialized and confidential duties related to correctional and criminal intelligence gathering and analysis, and monitors camera systems in the criminal justice facility. Supports agency wide operations by maintaining and monitoring complex technological systems including RMS, CMS and the ProPhoenix platform. Generates and analyzes data used to plan and evaluate agency operations in all bureaus and divisions.

 

Schedule: This position will work Monday-Friday with the availability to work occasional overtime on evenings and weekends due to events.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Intelligence Analyst - Collect, compile and analyze intelligence pertaining to criminal and extralegal activity affecting or occurring witihn the Milwaukee County Jail, Milwaukee County facilities, and the Milwaukee County Parks. Gather open-source information and evaluate tips sent to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
  • Systems Administrator - Manage, support and patch business intelligence and operating systems including CMS, RMS and the ProPhoenix platform. Assist agency executives and staff in maximizing system utilization. Coordinate with the Office of Emergency Management to resolve any issues arising from data ownership and management.
  • Data Analyst - Collect, compile and analyze data regarding agencywide operations, thereby facilitating the review and evaluation of services provided by all bureaus, divisions and administrative functionalities.
  • Correctional Operations Monitor - Monitor jail operations via the security camera system. Monitor and evaluate remote interaction between inmates and the public (including telephonic and virtual face-to-face communication). Assist in compiling and evaluating jail intelligence and data.
  • Trainer - Train MCSO staff in all classifications in RMS, CMS, ProPhoenix and other agency business intelligence and information systems. Lead routine training sessions at the MCSO Training Academy.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 15 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences

  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalency required
  • Five (5) years or more of work experience in Law Enforcement or Corrections with intensive experience in intel/data analysis required
  • National Incident Based Reporting Systems (NIBRS) certificate required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire
  • Security Threat Group (STG) certificate required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams required

 

Preferred Education, License/Certification and Experiences

  • Associate degree or higher in Criminal Justice or closely related field preferred
