Location: Hybrid (Austin, TX – in-office 1x/week)

Hours: Part-time, unpaid internship

Women’s Storybook Project of Texas is a nonprofit organization with the mission of connecting children with their incarcerated moms through the joy of

literature . Through this project, we aim to strengthen family bonds and promote literacy.

 

Position Summary

The Technology & Automation Intern will support internal systems, streamline processes, and identify areas where technology can enhance operational efficiency. This role is ideal for a technically-minded problem solver interested in applying tech skills to meaningful nonprofit work.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze current technology workflows and identify areas for optimization

     
  • Design and implement automation processes using tools like Zapier, Google Workspace, or low-code platforms

     
  • Assist with database management and create internal tools to improve data entry and reporting

     
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend process improvements

     
  • Collaborate with staff to understand challenges and deliver tech-based solutions

     
  • Document all new workflows and provide basic training or instructions for team members

     
  • Participate in weekly in-office sessions to work hands-on with the team and tech infrastructure

     

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field

     
  • Familiarity with process automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Make, Google Apps Script, Airtable, or similar)

     
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

     
  • Basic understanding of databases, workflows, and cloud tools (Google Workspace, Excel, etc.)

     
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users

     
  • Self-starter with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

     
  • Passion for using technology to support social impact and nonprofit operations
