Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, testing and documentation of new products as well as supporting operations. This role will collaborate with sales, business development and the customer to provide a solution to the customers’ design problems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create Equivalency Validation Folders for new products introduced to the company’s capability.

Produce Engineering Reports to customers when required

Assist the Quality Department in producing Warranties Reports, Root Cause Analysis Reports, etc.

Design tooling and test fixtures are equivalent to the ones listed and required in the OEM’s component data. Will require but not limited to work with servo valves, servo motors, controllers, Pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, sensors (Pressure, Temperature, Torque, Velocity, Acceleration, RPM, Force) data collections systems, etc.

LabVIEW Programming will be required for some complex projects.

Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs.        

Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing 

Review designs for completeness and proper application of engineering principles.

Write required documentation in support of new products introduction’s programs.

Interaction with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements.

Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.

Provide training and assist the shop technicians as required to introduce new products.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in MRO of Aircraft Components is preferred.

Experience producing prototype designs and working manufactures.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (SolidWORKS preferred)  

Strength and stress analysis experience (hand calcs or FEA)

Strong modeling skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills             

Familiarity with manufacturing methods and processes.              

Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects  

Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).

Must be able to multi-task.
