
Membership and Marketing Intern
The Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association (PWDA) is the voice of workforce development in the commonwealth to key decision makers and policymakers at the federal, state, and local levels. Serving Pennsylvania’s local workforce development system, PWDA members include the twenty-two (22) local workforce development boards, system providers, as well as business, education, training, human services, literacy, and community development partners located across the Commonwealth.
We prioritize Advocacy, Policy, Professional Development, and more for our industry and members. We serve as a clearinghouse for information, ideas, and innovation. Position Overview
The Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association (PWDA) is seeking a creative and highly motivated Membership & Marketing Intern to support our growing communications and membership strategy. This internship offers an exciting opportunity for a junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student to gain hands-on experience in digital content development, social media marketing, and member engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
Assist in planning and executing PWDA’s social media strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, and other platforms.
Draft and design engaging social media content, including graphics, video clips, and reels using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools.
Monitor trends in workforce development to craft relevant and timely posts that build brand voice and reach.
Marketing & Communications
Support creation of newsletters, event promotions, and email campaigns.
Update and organize marketing collateral for use in member outreach and events.
Assist in tracking and analyzing communications metrics.
Membership Engagement
Help maintain member contact lists and support onboarding materials for new members.
Assist in coordinating outreach for events, webinars, and member spotlights.
Support collection of member testimonials, success stories, and media features.
General Support
Provide project and administrative support to the PWDA communications and membership teams.
Support updates to the PWDA website and member portal as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Current enrollment as a junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student in communications, marketing, digital media, public relations, nonprofit management, or related field.
Demonstrated experience with or interest in social media strategy and content creation.
Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Express, or other digital design tools.
Interest in workforce development, education, or public policy is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
Compensation and Hours
This is a paid internship with a stipend or hourly rate starting at $15/hour, commensurate with experience. Part-time (10–20 hours per week), with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules. The internship is slated to begin in August/September 2025. If the internship is needed for academic credit, please note this in your application.
