Copyeditor Intern (Comedy Platform)
About Us:
SlapStik Comedy works to provide independent comedians a voice and platform to be heard. Through podcasts, magazines, and original illustrations, we showcase rising talent while providing fresh, humorous content to our audience. With over 32,000 followers on social media and growing, we're building a one-stop destination for all things comedy.
Position Overview:
We're looking for interns who have a good eye for grammar and enjoy making writing sound better. As a copyeditor, you'll help us clean up articles, blog posts, and podcast descriptions. That means fixing grammar mistakes, improving sentence flow, and making things work clearly without losing their humor and voice.
If you're someone who likes fixing up rough drafts and making writing easier to read, you'll probably enjoy this. You'll be part of a small team that works on articles, podcasts, and other content, and you'll get hands-on experience editing stuff that actually gets published. This internship is remote and offers college credit.
Responsibilities:
- Edit and clean up written content across the site (articles, blogs, descriptions)
- Catch grammar issues and typos
- Make sure everything sounds natural and consistent
- Do some light SEO work
- Communicate with the team over Microsoft Teams and email
Requirements:
- You can commit roughly 10 hours a week
- You're available for weekly meetings on Sundays from 12-1:30 PM EST
- You have a solid understanding of grammar and editing basics
- You're comfortable using Google Docs or Word
- You're good at meeting deadlines and keeping track of your tasks
- You're open to feedback and not afraid to ask questions
