Graduate Research Assistantship
A graduate research assistantship (MS) is available from Fall 2025 semester in the Department of Agriculture and Food Science at Western Kentucky University (WKU). The student will work on a project with a major focus to assess the impacts of different tillage systems and nutrient management practices on soil physical properties and hydraulic conditions. The successful applicant will be trained to use modern field and lab equipment and operate instruments for measuring soil health related properties. The graduate student will be expected to publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and encouraged to present their research at different platforms. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own research ideas and apply for student grant proposals within the project goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, soil science, environmental science, agronomy, or closely related field is required.
- Ability to work both independently and within an interdisciplinary research group.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Have a valid U.S. driver’s license or be able to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Experience in field study, data management and statistical analysis.
- Research interest in sustainable agricultural practices.
- Willingness to learn.
