Laboratory Assistant
In this role, the individual will be responsible for operating the instruments used to perform the initial immunoassay analysis of donor specimens for substances of abuse in accordance with the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) mandatory guidelines and other regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Perform operation and maintenance of the Screening Analyzer Instrument used for urine and oral fluid samples.
- Preferred experience with AU5400/5800 or Beckman Coulter Ananlyzers
- Perform Specimen Validity Testing on donor samples utilizing pH meter, refractometer, other laboratory equipment and instruments
- Perform initial review of donor test results and Quality Control
- Troubleshoot issues with screening instruments
- Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents, controls, and calibrators in compliance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines
- Sound technical decision-making regarding testing and problem solving
- Assist with inventory and replenishment of supplies
- Adherence to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information
- Adherence to all established guidelines outlined in Employee Handbook
- Must comply with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
- Able to work varying shifts or weekends to perform the Essential Functions.
Basic Qualifications | Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science
- Previous experience in a high-complexity laboratory is preferred, but not required
