
Classroom Testing Proctor
Position Overview:
Overall, testing center proctors assist in providing IU Indianapolis students the opportunity to test in a secure quiet testing environment, which allows additional time for classroom instruction.
Main Job Responsibilities
The Classroom Testing Proctor/Customer Service Representative position requires student employees to be responsible for:
- checking examinees into the Testing Center
- administering classroom exams
- comprehending testing procedures
- upholding excellent customer service
- maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times and communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff.
The position also requires that student employees:
- establish and maintain an understanding of the Testing Center's policies and procedures
- respond to student questions and/or concerns
- answer incoming calls and directing those calls accordingly and actively proctoring exams in one of the four testing labs ensuring that examinees are accessing their exam via the Lockdown browser, not bringing any outside testing materials into the lab or engaging in any type of academic dishonesty.
This position further requires student employees to:
- report any suspected incidents of academic dishonesty to a supervisor immediately.
Duties Broken Down by Percentage:
- 40% Checks students in to and out of the SL070 testing center based upon specified policies and procedures determined by the Testing Center and IU Indianapolis instructors
- 40% Physically proctors and assists students in the testing labs to successfully enter and exit the testing environment. (Locating tests in CANVAS, basic computer troubleshooting, providing testing materials, etc.) Follows NCTA best practices
- 10% Maintains cleanliness of the workspaces within the lab as well as the front desk area. (i.e. Wiping down workspaces, untangling cords)
- 10% Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills Required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills desired
- Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Able to meet confidentiality requirements concerning student records.
Work Schedule
- Up to 20 hours per week/prefer minimum availability of 15 hours per week
- Lab Hours: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday with additional hours for Midterms and Finals
- Hours worked will depend upon center’s needs.
