Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Description
Position Summary:
To provide services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. To restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Review patient records for current diagnosis, past medical history, precautions, and contraindications
- Provide skilled physical therapy services / interventions in accordance with physical therapy plan of care
- Communicate, in a timely manner, with physical therapists as appropriate to discuss progress
- Document patient treatment in the electronic documentation and billing system
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- CT Physical Therapy Assistant License – required
Performance Standards for Specialty Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Communicate effectively with patients and co-workers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer skills- knowledge of EMR, MS Word/Excel, PT billing codes
- Technical skills- knowledge of manual PT treatments, use of modality and PT exercise equipment
