Field Trips Internship

Description

The National Air and Space Museum's internship program provides firsthand experience working in a museum in an immersive experience including professional development opportunities, enrichment activities and opportunities to collaborate with other interns. 

 

This is a 10-week, full-time internship that includes a $8,000 stipend. The program is scheduled for the Fall Semester, but dates can be flexible depending on candidate's schedule. 

 

The School Programs Intern will be in the Youth & Teachers Program Team of the Education Department at the National Air and Space Museum. This internship experience will provide opportunities to learn about K-12 museum education by supporting various initiatives of the Holt Scholars program, which focuses on District of Columbia Public School (DCPS) teacher and student experiences. Specifically, this intern will support on site field trips via facilitating small student group experiences during Engineering & Design Challenges and collaborating with staff to develop, test, and refine student self-guides. This intern will also support various initiatives potentially including testing content with the museum’s Teacher Advisory Group, providing input on pre- and post visit materials, supporting Teacher Professional Development initiatives, and helping in the facilitation and evaluation of a Teachers Night at the museum.

National Air and Space Museum internships are available to undergraduate students, recent graduates, or graduate students.
