-----------------------------------------------------------------
The WVU Baseball Biomechanics and Performance Center (BPC) is launching its inaugural year, and we’re looking for eager, qualified undergraduate students to help bring it to life. As the team sets its sights on another championship season, BPC interns will contribute to the daily work that supports athlete development, performance analysis, and innovation at the highest level of collegiate baseball. Launched as a cornerstone of WVU Baseball’s commitment to innovation, the BPC brings together motion capture, data science, and applied sport science to elevate training, recovery, and long-term athlete development.
Interns will contribute in one of two specialized tracks:
Sport Science Interns
Sport Science Interns focus on the integration of technology into athlete development. They assist with collecting and troubleshooting data from tools like motion capture. Interns help conduct mobility screenings and contribute to individualized mobility reports and exercise libraries. They also play a key role in monitoring training loads, tracking recovery trends, and generating visualizations that support ongoing performance management.
Data Science Interns
Data Science Interns focus on data infrastructure and analytics that power decision-making. They assist with collecting and validating data, designing and maintaining a relational database, and ensuring clean, organized data flows between systems. Interns also develop scripts, tools, and dashboards to streamline reporting and provide timely insights to coaches and staff. This role emphasizes data engineering, automation, and applied problem-solving in a high-performance environment.
Structure:
Up to approximately 10 interns per year. This opportunity is for the entire academic year, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, based on performance. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.
