Facilities Operations Student Worker
Heartland Community College’s Facilities department is looking for additional team members to support our Director of Facilities Operations regarding pavement and grounds maintenance.
Title: Facilities Operations Student Worker
Title of Supervisor: Director of Facilities Operations
General Responsibilities: Serve as a support for our Director of Facilities Operations. Work with Director to identify problem areas, remove invasive species around campus, and address other grounds and landscaping issues.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to work with customers, employees, and contractors if necessary
- Attention to detail
- Experience with grounds keeping and/or lawn care
- Valid driver’s license
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Identify and remove invasive species around campus
- Utilize grounds maintenance equipment as directed by Director of Facilities Operations
- Job duties will vary depending on the season and will be assigned at the discretion of Director of Facilities Operations
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Position involves work that regularly requires mobility and ability to lift, carry, push/pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Position involves work that regularly requires kneeling, bending/crouching, balancing, climbing, and operating small hand tools, power tools, or similar devices.
- Position involves both indoor and outdoor working conditions.
- Position involves exposure to environmental conditions including cold (temperatures below 32 degrees for more than one hour); heat (temperatures above 85 degrees for more than one hour) significant noise and/or vibrations; chemical hazards and/or toxic substances; proximity to potentially hazardous mechanical equipment; heights or elevated spaces accessed by ladder, lift, or scaffolding.
