Electronic Repair and Installation Technician

Senspex in Rio Rancho, NM is seeking to hire a Electronic Repair and Installation Technician to support our project execution and service center teams with field installations, production and repairs. This team member will be critical to the success of our mission as a company and also be responsible for assisting in the assembly, installation, and testing of hardware.

What you'll get to do as a Field Service and Installation Technician:

  • Perform diagnosis, repair, verification, testing, calibration, and highly complex troubleshooting processes relating to the repair of surveillance equipment and thermal imaging cameras.
  • Complete repairs in a timely and professional manner in accordance with recommended procedures.
  • Perform on-site and field service installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electro-optical equipment and thermal imaging cameras.
  • Perform on-site and field service installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electro-optical equipment and thermal imaging cameras.
  • Provide support and recommendations for new and existing equipment with regard to installation, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Provide customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use and operation. May require preparing training documentation such as a PowerPoint presentation and presenting slide deck in front of a small crowd.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to identify and solve installation and/or equipment problems.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings for assembling fine electronics.
  • Support staff with special projects, product assembly, and final testing as needed.

The qualifications we require from you:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology or other related technical field; or equivalent certifications plus four (4) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience using electronic diagnosis and repair tools such as voltmeter, oscilloscope, ESD control equipment and soldering tools.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic assemblies, including motion control, embedded firmware controllers, optical assemblies, and low voltage power systems.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, test procedures, assembly drawings, bills‐of-material and operation method sheets.
  • Knowledge of sensor system component installation, testing, service, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to travel, up to 40%, domestic and international.

The qualifications we'd like to have from you:

  • Equipment operation, commercial trucking, electrical, electronics and radio communications training.
  • Confident and dynamic personality; approachable and friendly with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits; shielding and grounding, RF and multi-conductor cables; and/or fiber optics communication.
  • Experience using electronic diagnosis and repair tools such as voltmeter, oscilloscope, ESD control equipment and soldering tools.
  • ES-3J Low voltage journeyman.
  • Machine tool experience: drill press, grinder, power hand tools.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic assemblies, including motion control, embedded firmware controllers, optical assemblies, and low voltage power systems.
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools and the ability to perform documentation of field installations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Knowledge in quality management systems such as ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience working in a military or federal environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work within the United States.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and drug screen.
  • Must possess acceptable forms of identification under the REAL ID Act.
  • May require obtaining a U.S. DoD security clearance. Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance in order to work on projects/programs.
  • Certain activities of this position may be subject to Export Control Laws, including but not limited to U.S. State Department regulations at 22 C.F.R. Subchapter M, U.S. Department of Energy regulations found in 10 C.F.R. Part 810, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations in 10 C.F.R. Part 110, and the U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Administration Regulations found in 15 C.F.R. Part 730 et seq., as may be amended.
