Content and Communications Specialist

Position Summary

GiantMouse is seeking a versatile and highly organized Content and Communications Specialist to help tell our story across digital channels, strengthen customer messaging, and support broader marketing campaigns. This full-time, hybrid position is based out of our Lansing, Michigan office—with flexibility for remote work—and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you’ll collaborate across teams to create compelling content, manage communication workflows, and contribute to initiatives that elevate brand visibility. This is a hands-on role that blends strategy with daily execution—perfect for someone who enjoys both planning and producing.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Copywriting & Messaging Development

  • Write brand-aligned copy for website pages, product descriptions, promotional campaigns, newsletters, packaging, and blog posts.
  • Adapt messaging for different platforms and audiences, maintaining consistency in tone and voice.
  • Edit and proofread internal and external copy for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Contribute to product naming, tagline development, and voice/tone refinement for marketing initiatives.

Email, SMS & Push Campaign Management

  • Build and schedule email campaigns in Klaviyo in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and creative team.
  • Manage execution of SMS and push notifications related to launches, promotions, and key brand moments.
  • Assist with audience segmentation, deliverability, and performance tracking.
  • Support A/B testing and optimize based on performance insights.

Media Relations Support

  • Help identify relevant press, affiliate, and influencer contacts to grow outreach and earned media.
  • Coordinate logistics for media outreach, including pitch emails, sample requests, meetings, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain media contact lists and assist with preparing press kits and messaging documents.
  • Monitor coverage and compile periodic PR summaries.

Social Media Support & Content Creation

  • Capture and edit short-form social video content, especially for TikTok and Instagram Reels.
  • Assist with scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and responding to brand mentions and DMs.
  • Stay current with platform trends and contribute ideas for creative content.
  • Support shoots and behind-the-scenes content collection when needed.

Note: While social strategy is led by the Director of Marketing, you will support execution—especially for quick-turn, timely, or opportunistic content.

General Marketing Support

  • Contribute to broader initiatives, including affiliate and ambassador coordination, campaign planning, asset development, and product storytelling.
  • Assist with preparation and execution of trade shows, including potential travel 2–4 times per year (domestic or international).

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of experience in content creation, marketing communications, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent command of tone and grammar.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (Klaviyo preferred), Google Workspace, and CMS tools like Shopify or NetSuite.
  • Familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding of social media platform trends and marketing best practices across Meta, TikTok, and Google.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively.
  • Bonus: Interest in outdoor gear, knives, EDC, or design-forward consumer products.

Minimal Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Physical activity that sometimes requires lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Physical activity that sometimes requires travel by car, train and/or air.
  • Physical activity that sometimes requires bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling and/or twisting.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Must hear and speak English well enough to effectively conduct business over the telephone, computer or face-to-face.

Minimum Environmental Expectations:

  • This position will require working indoors most of the time with some occasional travel to events or meetings with customers. The typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week with some occasional weekend work, as well as longer hours when deadlines warrant. This position requires fast-paced work, which can be stressful at times.
