The AVTF Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in Audio, Video, Technology & Film production, aligned with Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) curriculum standards and industry standards supported by the Georgia Film Academy (GFA). The instructor will equip students with essential knowledge and hands-on skills in media production, broadcasting, filmmaking, editing, and related technologies to prepare them for post-secondary education and careers in the film, television, and media industries.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and implement daily lesson plans based on GaDOE AVTF course standards and GFA industry expectations.

Provide direct instruction in all phases of audio, video, and film production, including pre-production, production, and post-production.

Teach industry-standard equipment use such as cameras, lighting, microphones, and editing software.

Integrate Georgia Film Academy content and practices into the classroom environment.

Foster a safe, professional, and creative classroom environment that encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and technical skill development.

Supervise students in classroom, studio, and field production settings, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Manage classroom equipment inventory, and usage.

Support students in developing portfolios, demo reels, and projects aligned with industry standards.

Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications, including GFA certification opportunities where applicable.

Facilitate participation in Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as SkillsUSA, including competitions, leadership development, and community service.

Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and equipment usage.

Collaborate with local industry partners, post-secondary institutions, and the Georgia Film Academy to provide students with career and college readiness opportunities.

Attend required training, professional development, and industry workshops.

Perform other duties as assigned by school or district administration.

Qualifications:

Required:

Valid Georgia PSC (Professional Standards Commission) Teaching Certificate in Mass Communications Cluster, Audio/Video Technology & Film, Broadcast Video Production, Engineering & Technology or related field
(or ability to obtain via GATAPP, industry certification, or equivalent pathway)

Preferred:

GFA Level 1 or higher certification

Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Communications, Media Production, Film, or related area

Experience with industry-standard software such as Davinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or AVID

Knowledge of GaDOE Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways

Experience working with high school students in an instructional setting
