NBL-US Team Marketing Director

Position Title: NBL-US Team Marketing Director

Department: Team Operations & League Marketing

Reports To: Team General Manager, & NBL-US League Marketing Director

Location: Assigned NBL-US & WNBL-US Team Market (local)

Position Type:

  • Internship / Entry-Level Contract
  • Seasonal (with opportunity for extension)
  • October to December & March to June Seasons (dual-season model)

Position Summary:

The NBL-US Team Marketing Representative is a critical front-line member of the league’s marketing and community outreach team. This position is responsible for driving brand awareness, building community relationships, coordinating local marketing efforts, and supporting team game-day operations.

This role is ideal for current college students, recent graduates, and young professionals seeking hands-on experience in sports marketing, sales, public relations, social media, and event coordination within a growing professional basketball league.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1️⃣ Community Outreach & Brand Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, schools, youth programs, churches, and organizations.
  • Coordinate community appearances for players, coaches, and staff.
  • Represent the team at community events, expos, fairs, and networking functions.
  • Distribute flyers, posters, and digital marketing materials across the local area.

2️⃣ Ticket Sales & Promotions

  • Assist with selling season tickets, group tickets, and promotional packages.
  • Organize ticket sales drives with local organizations, youth leagues, and corporations.
  • Execute creative ticket sales campaigns for theme nights, family packages, and sponsorship activations.
  • Track and report sales progress weekly.

3️⃣ Sponsorship Activation Support

  • Assist the Team General Manager and League Sponsorship Director in identifying potential sponsors.
  • Help fulfill sponsorship activation requirements on game days (banners, signage, announcements, giveaways).
  • Maintain a sponsorship database and assist with renewals and reporting.

4️⃣ Social Media & Digital Marketing

  • Create and manage social media content for the team’s local pages (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn).
  • Coordinate content calendar for game days, player features, behind-the-scenes access, and community outreach.
  • Work with league media staff to ensure league branding consistency.
  • Engage with fans online to build a digital fan base.

5️⃣ Game Day Operations

  • Assist with the set-up and breakdown of marketing materials.
  • Help execute halftime promotions, fan contests, and sponsor activations.
  • Distribute team merchandise and promotional items.
  • Coordinate with photographers and videographers for content capture.
  • Serve as liaison for fan experience on game days.

6️⃣ Content Creation (Optional Based on Skills)

  • Assist with video editing, highlight reels, and social media storyboarding.
  • Support production of promotional content, interviews, and live-stream integration.

7️⃣ Administrative Duties

  • Track all marketing activities and prepare weekly reports for management.
  • Maintain organized records of contacts, outreach activities, and sponsorship leads.
  • Attend weekly marketing team meetings (virtual).

Qualifications:

  • Current student (Junior or Senior) or recent graduate in: Sports Management, Marketing, Business, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in sports marketing, live events, and the entertainment business.
  • High energy, outgoing personality, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends, game days)
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience in social media management preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Suite, or content creation apps (preferred but not required).
  • Access to personal transportation (highly recommended for community outreach).

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available for all home games and selected away game activations.
