Why does the job exist?

 

This position is instrumental to creating purchase orders, requisitions, vouchering invoices, tracking contracts for The Public Health Department.

How does it get done?

 

This position will be responsible for providing high level business and administrative support to the Contracts Program Support Bureau within the Public Health Division. This position is instrumental to process encumbrance transactions, creating purchase orders, requisitions, paying invoices, and tracking all types of contractual agreements. Works with Bureaus, office and regional contract liaisons to ensure that all contractual agreements and statewide price agreements encumbrances/disencumbering are submitted in a timely manner in accordance with the Administrative Services Division and Public Health Division prescribed time frames. Extra duties if necessary.

Who are the customers?

 

Customers will be DOH staff including Program Managers, financial staff, budget staff, and occasionally staff from other agencies.

Ideal Candidate

 

EDUCATION - bachelor's degree in business administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of budgeting, accounting, auditing, purchasing, cash management or financial management.

Minimum Qualification

 

Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and/or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

 

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

 

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
