AI + Data Science Associate

Job Description

The Asia Group, LLC is now accepting applications for an AI & Data Science Associate to join our Washington, DC office.

The Asia Group (TAG) is a leading strategic and capital advisory firm that positions clients – ranging from Fortune 100 multinationals to innovative startups – for success in established and emerging markets across the Asia-Pacific region. You will join a fast-paced, innovative team that operates at the forefront of public policy and business across the Asia Pacific. From developing and implementing market access/expansion campaigns to enhancing political brand equity, you will advance policy-driven solutions to help TAG’s clients capture new growth opportunities throughout the region. This role requires a strong foundation of U.S. and regional national security experience, either in the public or private sector.

This is a fast-moving, dynamic role within our expanding consulting practice that offers significant opportunity for growth. We are seeking an innovative and skilled AI Associate to develop cutting-edge analytical methodologies that leverage data science and machine learning to explore new problem sets and business challenges.

In this role, you will design and refine processes and techniques for data analysis, including sentiment analysis, risk assessment, and predictive modeling. The ideal candidate will be able to use their technical expertise to think creatively and develop novel methodologies, with an interest in exploring applications to international relations and global affairs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, and help implement AI-driven methodologies for data analysis, including sentiment analysis and predictive modeling, driving creative and innovative approaches to explore novel applications.
  • Apply machine learning models and techniques, including regression, clustering, classification, and natural language processing (NLP), to derive insights from structured and unstructured data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate analytical models and findings into client deliverables and strategic recommendations.
  • Design robust processes for data cleaning, preprocessing, and analysis of large datasets from various sources.
  • Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and advanced NLP techniques to extract insights from documents, news articles, and text data.
  • Create clear and comprehensive documentation, including model design, methodologies, and process flows for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in AI and machine learning.


Job Requirements

Education and/or experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related quantitative field.
  • Strong foundation in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Interest in exploring applications to international relations and global affairs.
  • Familiarity with machine learning methods such as regression, clustering, classification, and natural language processing (NLP).

Skills and/or competencies required:

  • Proficiency in Python programming, including data analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
  • Strong SQL skills for database queries and data management, with experience organizing and rationalizing database structures.
  • Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications in text analysis and data extraction.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and libraries.
  • Familiarity with GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstration of creativity and innovative thinking in approaching analytical challenges.
  • Enthusiasm for staying updated on AI trends and integrating new advancements into practical applications.


Job Benefits

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and are expected to work in-person at the TAG Washington, D.C. office five days per week. Please note that TAG maintains a dog-friendly office environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in close proximity to dogs as part of our standard in-person work setting.

TAG provides competitive benefits, including premium health insurance, generous paid time off, 401(k) matching, and commuter allowances, with regular training opportunities available to its employees. For this role, TAG offers a salary of $100,000-$130,000 with eligibility for a discretionary end-of-year bonus. All interested candidates must apply via the application portal on our website.
