A Brief Overview
The Senior Investment Accountant accounts for the normal course of business investment and derivative activity on a US GAAP and Statutory basis.
Responsibilities could include, based on staffing needs, the following:
- Performs weekly cash and transactional reconciliations for derivative activity, and weekly collateral position reconciliations with counterparties.
- Monitors Hedge accounting reports and reconciliations to provide ongoing status updates to Director.
- Maintains hedge accounting amortization schedules and monitors early maturities of hedged items.
- Prepares regular monthly journal entries
- Assists in regular hedge effectiveness testing
- Maintains RSAT database and processes new/modified RSAT’s through the application process.
- Navigates through substantial quantities of data/reports and/or statements to detect errors and gather financial information for reporting and/or makes recommendations to set up new portfolios in all systems and setup reconciliation /reporting files.
- Assists in investment reporting and analysis for department projects.
- Refines accounting/financial reporting procedures and guidelines to ensure accurate consolidation of existing and emerging domestic and international accounts.
- Works with other functional areas in the Company to achieve efficient and effective accounting and reporting practices and procedures and responds to requests from other functional areas on various inquires.
Education and Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience
- 2+ years accounting or auditing experience

- Knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application
- Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
- Ability to investigate, analyze and problem-solve
- Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Basic Word, intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skills

Compensation Range:
$65,050.00 - $92,400.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
