This position serves as a Communications Specialist responsible for planning, developing and directing informational, educational, and promotional activities through various forms of media.

In addition, you will create and maintain essential website content utilizing Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and maintain regular access to sensitive and confidential information.

Essential Functions

  • Under general direction, serves as the Communications Specialist for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) planning, developing and directing informational, educational, and promotional activities through various forms of media.
  • Provides comprehensive support in internal campaign management, event planning, communications, and social media strategy, ensuring effective outreach and promotion of agency initiatives.
  • Composes and organizes communications included on the DoIT Employee Portal
  • Maintains regular access to sensitive and confidential information
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in journalism, English, or public speaking.
  • Requires two (2) years of professional experience in a public education and information program in a public or private agency.

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance

  • Two (2) years of professional experience writing, editing, and developing communication materials for print, digital, and multimedia channels in a public relations or communications role.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience managing and curating website and social media content to support public engagement and agency branding initiatives.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience analyzing and reporting on social media performance using analytics tools to optimize content strategy and audience engagement.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or a comparable content management system (CMS) to create and maintain web content.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience planning and executing internal communications campaigns, including coordination of outreach materials, digital signage, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of communication strategies, media platforms, and best practices for disseminating organizational information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in written communication.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to translate complex or technical information into accessible content tailored for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and with agency leadership to develop impactful messaging and represent the agency at public events and initiatives.
