This position serves as an Identity & Access Systems Operations Specialist I for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) performing professional assignments of a limited scope and assisting in operation of assigned systems to prevent methods of gaining unauthorized access to state agencies' computer systems.
In this role you will assist in assessing DoIT and other state agencies' identity and access management systems and procedures as well as monitor systems for operational and security issues.
In addition, you will assist in investigations of a limited nature of alleged computer security incidents and keep abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.

Essential Functions
- Under immediate supervision, serves as an Identity & Access Systems Operations Specialist I, completing professional assignments of a limited scope for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT).
- Assists in operation of assigned systems to prevent methods of gaining unauthorized access to state agencies' computer systems.
- Assists in assessing DoIT and other state agencies' identity and access management systems and procedures.
- Monitors systems for operational and security issues.
- Assists in investigations of a limited nature of alleged computer security incidents.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of setting up users, groups, and permissions, handling authentication processes, and integrating these systems into an organization’s IT infrastructure using Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Active Directory, and Okta.
- Working knowledge of securing user access and resources utilizing network access, identity, and access management processes.
- Working knowledge of user authentication, role-based access control, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Working knowledge using diagnostic tools (such as system monitoring tools, SPLUNK, or event logs) to identify problems or failures in systems, networks, or applications, and the ability to analyze the data provided to fix issues.
- Working knowledge of identifying and mitigating different types of identity attacks such as social engineering, password spray, dictionary, and pass the hash.
- Working knowledge of NIST Special Publications 800-63 for digital identity management, particularly the secure management of authentication, authorization, and identity proofing processes for individuals and organizations, ensuring compliance and best practices for secure identity management

Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
