Student Office Assistant-School of Nursing

School of Nursing - Student Office Assistant

The Northern Michigan University School of Nursing is seeking a highly motivated and organized undergraduate student to serve as a Student Office Assistant. This position offers valuable experience in a professional office environment, supporting the administrative functions of a busy academic department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative support to faculty and staff within the School of Nursing.
  • Manage and maintain accurate filing systems (physical and digital), including copying, scanning, and organizing documents.
  • Assist with event planning and execution, including scheduling, room reservations, material preparation, and on-site support.
  • Create and schedule engaging content for the School of Nursing's social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) to promote events, achievements, and departmental news.
  • Assist with promoting School of Nursing events through various communication channels.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Answer phones and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain office supplies and ensure a tidy and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the office.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Northern Michigan University.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation for promotional purposes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work study is preferred but not required.
  • Previous office experience.
  • Familiarity with Northern Michigan University campus resources and departments.

Hours:

  • Flexible hours, 10-12 hours per week, to accommodate student's academic schedule.
  • Some evening or weekend hours may be required for special events.
