Salary range: As per Faculty Pay Scale, likely between $44,895 and $66,256 depending on education and experience. 

Lyndon Institute seeks a creative and passionate instructor to lead our Graphic Design Career and Technical Education program. Students studying graphic design at Lyndon Institute are immersed in a professional design studio surrounded by high-tech, industry standard equipment. In addition to digital design, photography and production skills, the successful candidate will have experience and vision in guiding students through real-world client meetings, self and peer critique, and other skills necessary for rewarding careers or post-secondary enrollment in the creative arts. Students in our program earn dual-enrollment college credit through CCV as well as credentials including Adobe Certified Professional. 

 

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • Experience in Project-Based Learning, and ability to empower students to take a leadership role in creating meaningful work for clients and producing a capstone portfolio.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud core programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Experience with After Effects, Premiere Pro, Figma,  3D software such asBlender, or Cinema 4D is also beneficial. The program instructor will have significant freedom in determining the best (Mac-based) apps for student use.
  • Demonstrate design principles mastery in typography, layout, color theory, composition, branding and identity design.
  • Ability to convey production knowledge such as prepress, print production, file formats, resolution standards and digital formats for web and social media.
  • Ability to teach productive and forward-thinking strategies for self and group critique, leading to a culture of continuous improvement.  
  • Ability to encourage experimentation while grounding students in design fundamentals.
  • Understanding of fair use, intellectual property, and ethical design practices.
  • Ability to integrate Vermont’s digital and visual arts proficiencies into program design and day to day instruction.

Requirements:

  • Postsecondary studies in Graphic Design or comparable major.
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • A Vermont Educator License with an endorsement in CTE Arts and Communications, or the ability to obtain within three years. (Lyndon Institute pays the full cost of Vermont State University’s CTE Teacher Preparation program)
  • Knowledge of industry recognized credentials, such as Adobe Certified Professional
  • Several years working in graphic design, advertising, publishing, or a similar field
  • A portfolio showcasing real-world work and projects
