Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Tritium Extraction Postdoctoral Research Associate to work at the Safety and Tritium Applied Research facility in the Irradiated Fuels and Materials department. The team works a 4x10 schedule located at the Advanced Test Reactor Complex with every Friday off. Technical tasks will focus on the modeling and experimental testing of tritium extraction concepts for fusion energy breeder blanket applications.

  • Experience with hydrogen transport in materials and/or separation systems
  • Experience with hands-on laboratory experiments
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics
  • Experience with two-phase flow
  • Experience in thermal-hydraulic experiments, from experiment design to data-analytics.
  • Experience with system-level codes such as MELCOR
  • Experience with MOOSE tools 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Ph.D. requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
  • Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Knowledge of fusion energy breeder blankets and tritium extraction systems
  •  Previous experience modeling tritium transport phenomena
  • ·Proficiency with a coding language
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with multi-disciplinary groups to achieve research results

Job Information: 

Salary: $101,196 Annually
