Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented intern to join our client intake team. This role offers valuable experience in the mental health field while directly contributing to our mission of connecting individuals with the right mental health care providers. The intern will work closely with our intake coordinator to ensure prospective clients have a positive first experience with our services.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Communication: Handle incoming calls and emails from prospective clients seeking mental health services
- Initial Intake Support: Guide clients through the registration process for their first appointment
- Information Management: Collect and accurately record client information in our system
- Provider Matching: Assist clients in finding the right mental health provider based on their specific needs, location, and preferences
- Customer Service: Provide compassionate, professional support to individuals during potentially vulnerable moments
- Administrative Support: Help maintain organized client files and follow up on pending registrations
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the intake coordinator and other team members to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in psychology, social work, counseling, healthcare administration, or related program
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Empathetic and patient demeanor when working with individuals seeking mental health support
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Comfortable using phone systems and basic computer applications
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative team
