Chief of Momentum
Burnside Law is a boutique litigation practice focused on construction-defect and insurance-recovery cases that also acquires small service businesses across Oregon. Our biggest constraint is bandwidth, not opportunity, so we’re hiring a resourceful “Chief of Momentum” who can work from home anywhere in the state and keep both our court docket and deal pipeline moving.
In this hybrid executive-assistant, project-manager, and operations-builder role you will own four finish lines. First, you’ll ensure deal and prospect flow never stalls by entering every new seller, broker, or prospective-client lead into the CRM within twenty-four hours, booking at least two owner or prospect meetings each week, and delivering a one-page snap-shot within forty-eight hours of receiving documents so we can make fast go / no-go calls. Second, you will deliver litigation support at zero risk by tracking every Oregon court deadline with thirty-day and seven-day alarms, filing pleadings a full day early, and sending discovery responses five days ahead of schedule. Third, you will keep our relationship and marketing engine humming by logging fifteen meaningful touches each month—whether calls, e-mails, or handwritten notes—drafting a polished quarterly newsletter five days before it goes out, updating our website blog once a month, and making sure no key client, investor, or referrer goes more than a quarter without hearing from us. Finally, you’ll run an executive noise filter and continuous-improvement loop by ending each day with no more than ten untagged e-mails in the inbox, maintaining a flawless calendar and travel itinerary, sending a concise one-page Friday Brief by 4 p.m., and logging at least one process fix every month.
We care far more about talent than credentials. You may have worked as an operations coordinator, virtual executive assistant, legal secretary, chief-of-staff, or something else entirely, but you demonstrate friendly persistence when nudging busy people, an instinctive eye for small errors, a systems mindset that makes you label folders and automate repetitive steps, and the curiosity to dig until you find an answer—using Google, ChatGPT, or a well-timed phone call. You live in Oregon, can work Pacific hours, and are comfortable chatting with homeowners, brokers, or general contractors on the phone. Formal paralegal certification is welcome but absolutely not required; we’ll train you on Oregon e-filing quirks.
Compensation starts with a remote base salary of $52,000 – $60,000, depending on experience, plus a quarterly outcome bonus worth up to twenty percent of base when all four scorecard targets are green. We also offer spot bonuses or half-days off for heroic saves, a tech stipend, and optional coffee catch-ups in Portland or the Rogue Valley.
If you’re ready to keep deals, deadlines, and relationships moving while working remotely from anywhere in Oregon, we’d love to hear from you. Apply through the Google Form linked in this posting.
