Communications & Content Intern

Reports to: Senior Communications Manager

Status: Part-time, Remote (in-office opportunities available if desired) 

Date: August 25-December 31, 2025

Compensation: $20/hr

Purpose 

The Housing Collective is seeking a Communications and Content Intern to support our work in Connecticut. This is a paid part-time internship, for late summer and fall 2025. The Housing Collective may offer you the option to extend the internship to winter and spring 2026 based on your performance. You will be responsible for supporting the Housing Collective’s Communications Team by developing content across multiple platforms including email and social media, and helping to maintain the organization’s digital presence. You will have the opportunity to improve your content creation and content management skills in a supportive environment while collaborating with an interdisciplinary staff of affordable housing and homelessness experts. 

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain social media channels for the Housing Collective, and the Centers for Housing Opportunity, including Instagram, LinkedIn, BlueSky
  • Develop original posts and draft posts for content provided to you in a social media calendar
  • Track and publicize local public meetings about housing and zoning 
  • Produce graphics on Canva and Figma using an existing brand kit and templates
  • Produce and send emails on Constant Contact using templates 
  • Upload content to our website using Craft content management system 
  • Assist with additional administrative tasks

Qualifications & Essential Skills

  • Current student or recent graduate in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a relevant field, such as communications, marketing, public policy, urban planning, political science, or geography
  • Experience in digital communications including social media, web production, email marketing
  • Strong writer: you can adapt your writing to different platforms 
  • Strong social media skills: you know how to create engaging content 
  • Basic design skills: you can work in programs like Canva, Figma, or Adobe 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to produce content with rapid turnaround times (2-24 hours)

Work Environment

  • Remote position
  • Opportunities to work on site at Housing Collective’s office in Bridgeport if desired  
  • Occasional need to appear at events to take photos, capture content
  • You will receive training for tools and programs you’re not familiar with
  • 15-20 hours per week, half of which must be during business hours (9:00am-5:00pm)
