About Metro Esports

Metro Sports & Entertainment Group is a digital sports and media company using gaming, esports, and technology education to attract, engage, and empower young people. We design and operate esports lounges and innovation labs inside community hubs like the YMCA, creating inclusive spaces where students and families can learn, play, and grow.

With eight active locations across Pennsylvania, New York, and Alabama, Metro Esports offers a wide range of hands-on programs—including esports leagues and tournaments, game design and development workshops, content creation courses, coding classes, and youth entrepreneurship experiences. Each program is designed to be fun, future-focused, and accessible to all skill levels.

About the Role

As an Event & Operations Intern, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the coordination and execution of Metro’s diverse slate of programs. These include everything from beginner-friendly gaming workshops to esports events, enrichment courses, day camps, and youth leadership programs.

You’ll work alongside our program leads and operations team to ensure every experience is smooth, safe, and memorable for participants and families. This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in education, tech, events, or community programming — and looking for real-world experience in a fast-moving, mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Design & Development
    • Contribute to the ideation, structure, and documentation of new programs, courses, workshops, and events
    • Help build or refine curriculum resources, activity plans, learning goals, and schedules
    • Research relevant tools, platforms, games, and technologies to support evolving program ideas
  • Cross-Location Coordination
    • Assist in preparing program guides, operational playbooks, and internal documentation for use across sites
    • Collaborate with regional managers, instructors, and lounge staff to align on logistics and delivery
    • Maintain shared calendars, program trackers, and resource folders to keep teams aligned and up to date
  • Program Execution & Facilitation
    • Support occasional on-site execution for program launches, camps, or events
    • Assist with participant check-in, set-up, logistics, and light troubleshooting during in-person activities
    • Help gather participant feedback and contribute to post-program reports and refinements

Who We’re Looking For

You’re organized, reliable, and detail-oriented — but also creative, collaborative, and not afraid to jump into new challenges. You can think big picture, but you don’t miss the small stuff. You might be pursuing a career in youth development, education, tech, events, or nonprofit leadership — or maybe you're just passionate about how gaming and creativity can unlock real-world skills for kids. Either way, you’re motivated, curious, and ready to contribute across both strategy and execution.

Must-Haves:

  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a small, fast-paced team
  • Willingness to split time between remote planning work and in-person program support
  • Interest in gaming, esports, tech education, or youth-focused programming
  • Familiar with Google Workspace (Docs & Sheets)
  • Bonus points for: experience with program design, camp leadership, or curriculum development

What You’ll Gain

  • Direct experience in program and event operations, youth engagement, and community-building
  • A behind-the-scenes look at how esports and STEM education come together in real-world spaces
  • Mentorship and training across operations, logistics, tech programs, and creative production
  • Opportunities to own projects, contribute ideas, and grow within a supportive team
  • A $750/month stipend during the 4-month internship, with the option to extend
