IT Operations and Support Technician

Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Operations and Support Technician to join our team in Idaho Falls. This full-time position will support the day-to-day IT operations and provide technical assistance to ensure smooth functioning of our systems across the organization. The role requires strong technical skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The IT Operations and Support Technician will play a critical role in maintaining our technology infrastructure and delivering reliable support to staff and departments.

Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week
Position Type: Full-Time

GENERAL INFORMATION

This position requires a strong understanding of PC hardware, peripherals, devices, and software applications to independently install, maintain, and troubleshoot PC hardware/software, and resolve user and system issues. The role also supports the development of skills in local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN), assisting senior IT staff in identifying and resolving network issues. The technician will perform network infrastructure and maintenance tasks, assist with LAN administration, and provide both first- and second-tier user support.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network Administration: Assist with LAN/WAN system monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network communication problems. Help implement backup and recovery procedures.
  • Hardware and Equipment Management: Assemble, test, install, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware. Manage repairs or coordinate with external service providers as needed. Deploy new computers and equipment to district staff.
  • Software Installation and Configuration: Install, test, and configure software applications. Coordinate with vendors for software-related issues.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of computer equipment and supply inventory.
  • User Support and Training: Provide troubleshooting assistance for software (e.g., Paragon, Microsoft 365, Dialpad) and hardware issues (e.g., computers, tablets, printers). Assist staff with training on hardware/software usage.
  • Phone System Maintenance: Perform basic updates and changes to the phone system as required.
  • Audit and Backup Tasks: Complete weekly and monthly IT hardware audits and backup configurations for network and server devices.
  • Help Desk Support: Respond to and document user support requests via the help desk ticketing system. Create and maintain how-to guides and documentation for resolving common technical issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid knowledge of computer trends, software capabilities, and terminology.
  • Experience with hardware and software installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with network systems and resolving issues related to compatibility, application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems.
  • Ability to work in a networked or multi-platform environment and provide IT training to staff

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Some network/server experience.
  • A+ or other entry level Certification
