Position Overview:
The Real Estate and Space Administration department within the Facilities and Business Operations division at the University of Central Florida is seeking a Space Management Intern to support campus space data collection and verification efforts.
This internship provides students with the opportunity to apply concepts from real estate, physical space planning, and data documentation within a large university setting. Interns will engage in space surveys, photographic documentation, and data entry to support accurate space records and efficient campus operations.
Responsibilities:
Space Surveys & Field Documentation:
- Conduct walkthroughs of campus buildings to verify room use, workstation counts, and key physical characteristics
- Capture photographic documentation of rooms, workspaces, and assets to support space record accuracy
Data Entry & Records Management:
- Input field survey results into internal systems, including room details, space types, and employee location data
- Assist with identifying and resolving inconsistencies between survey data and existing records
- Support department-led efforts to gather and input data related to space use, research activity, room assignments, and other priorities of Space Administration
- Help organize and maintain photographic records for long-term access and reference
Process Support & Documentation:
- Assist in documenting internal processes for collecting, validating, and organizing space-related data
- Help prepare internal reference materials and summaries used to support planning, audits, or data reviews
- Contribute to process improvement efforts focused on streamlining surveys, data collection, or space assignment workflows
Qualifications:
- Must be a junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, Interior Design, Real Estate, Construction Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Interest in the built environment, space planning, or structured data collection
- Attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with data entry systems or survey tools is a plus
- Comfortable walking across campus and entering a variety of workspaces
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based effort
