Legal Intern - Non-profit

Business Impact NW is looking for an individual who possesses strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Ideal candidates will be able to effectively manage multiple tasks, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment. The intern will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in a variety of legal tasks connected with furthering our mission to provide capital, education, and resources to underserved entrepreneurs. This internship will be paid $1000 for a 10 week initial period, at which point we will meet to determine whether the opportunity will continue. 

The essential duties and responsibilities for this internship include, but are not limited to: 

Conducting legal and factual research, analysis, and writing; 

Cite-checking and copy-editing legal documents; 

Assisting with drafting contracts; 

Assisting with client advising; 

Providing additional support to the BIN’s legal department, as needed; and 

Cultivating an organizational culture that aligns with the Lawyering Project’s core values 

Requirements 

Education and Experience 

The legal intern must be currently enrolled in an accredited law school located in the United States and have completed their first year.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

The legal intern must have: 

A demonstrated commitment to small business and an interest in non-profit governance; 

Skill in legal research, writing, and analysis; and 

Ability to analyze complex legal issues, meet deadlines, work well under pressure, and contribute to a collaborative team environment and a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work culture.
