Interlochen Public Radio is seeking a dynamic self-starter with a love of classical music to join us as our Classical IPR fellow. As the Classical IPR fellow, you will learn how to prepare and host live radio broadcasts, research and produce original audio content for our flagship programs and podcasts, digitize and catalog classical music recordings in our library and create original digital content for our website and social media channels.
The employment term is one year from the start date with a recommended start date of September 1, 2025 or later. This position may be renewed for a second year, contingent on funding and mutual agreement. This Fellowship is a $30,000.00 per year exempt salary position and includes meals and lodging on the Interlochen campus. Meals and lodging are not transferable as compensation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Host live and pre-recorded radio broadcasts
- Serve as a research and a production assistant for Classical IPR’s radio programs and podcasts, with a specific focus on Intermezzo and additional programming for children and families
- Digitize and catalog music recordings from CDs, LPs and other physical media in Classical IPR’s music library
- Edit and catalog commercial and archival recordings using Music Master
- Collect and create original digital content for Classical IPR’s website and social media channels
- Participate in in-person community engagement events around the region
- Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Complies with ICA policies/procedures and acts as a good steward of ICA finances.
- Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all students, their families and the community.
- Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive internal and external stakeholder contact.
Required Skills and Experience:
Education: Undergraduate or graduate degree (completed or in progress) in music theory, music librarianship, or musicology required
Experience:
- Experience with digital audio workstations such as Adobe Audition preferred but not required
- Experience with music database and/or cataloging programs preferred but not required
- Experience Google suite preferred but not required
Equipment Familiarity:
- Technology proficient
Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:
- Must meet and maintain background screening requirements as detailed in policy 12.HR.01 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the eligibility requirements of ICA’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
