The starting pay range is as follows:
Engineering Technician I* - $15.93 - $20.80 per hour
Engineering Technician II - $17.81 - $23.39 per hour
Engineering Technician III - $19.96 - $26.41 per hour
This position offers a Trainee Status* at the following pay rate: $19.23 per hour
*Candidates hired at a Trainee Status must meet minimum education/experience qualifications within one (1) year of hire date

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Maintenance - District 5, has a full-time vacancy for an Engineering Technician I - III.
SUMMARY:
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I: To perform basic technical engineering duties for a highway district.
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II: To perform technical engineering duties for a highway district including permit review, construction inspection, design, survey and specification development for materials and equipment.
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III: To perform and assist in supervising technical engineering duties for a highway district including permit review, construction inspection, design, survey and specification development for materials and equipment.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.
Experience: Two years of experience as an Engineering Aide, one year of which shall have been at a level equivalent to Engineering Aide II.
OR
Education: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering, landscape, architecture, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies, agronomy, geology, soil science or earth science.
Experience: No experience required.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license. The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience as an Engineering Aide or Engineering Technician, at least one year of which shall have been at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician I.
OR
Education: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering, landscape, architecture, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies, agronomy, geology, soil science or earth science.
Experience: One (1) year of experience at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician I.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license. The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I
Assists in the technical permitting review and prepares related correspondence and communications for various Department programs.
Assists in researching highway plans and related legal documents to provide data to internal and external customers.
Assists in the technical review for driveway, utility and district construction projects.
Researches pre-construction technical data including survey, right of way, estimates, engineering drawings, materials list and specifications to enable the construction/reconstruction of State highways and maintenance facilities.
Manages/coordinates various programs within the district (Sponsor A Highway, hazard tree, etc.) the district’s tree removal program.
Assists with managing the district’s seasonal weight restriction program. Conducts field reviews as necessary to ensure appropriate management of the program.
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II
Provides technical permitting review with related correspondence and communications for various Department programs.
Maintains and researches highway plans and related legal documents to provide data to internal and external customers.
