Events Intern

Events Intern

Department: Development
Reports To: Development Director
Position Type: Internship (Part-time, 15-20 hours/week)
Duration: Semester-based or 3-6 months

Position Summary

The Events Intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit event planning and coordination while providing valuable support to our events team. This internship offers exposure to all aspects of event management, from initial planning through post-event evaluation, while contributing to meaningful fundraising and community engagement efforts that advance our mission.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning Support

  • Assist with research and coordination of event venues, vendors, and suppliers
  • Help create and maintain event timelines, checklists, and planning documents
  • Support logistics coordination including setup, registration, and breakdown
  • Assist with event material preparation and inventory management

Marketing and Promotion

  • Help develop promotional materials and social media content for events
  • Assist with donor and volunteer communications related to events
  • Support registration processes and attendee tracking
  • Help maintain event websites and online platforms

Day-of-Event Support

  • Assist with event setup, registration, and attendee check-in
  • Provide on-site support during events as needed
  • Help coordinate volunteers and manage event logistics
  • Support breakdown and cleanup activities

Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain event databases and contact lists
  • Assist with budget tracking and expense reporting
  • Help with post-event follow-up and thank-you communications
  • Support evaluation and reporting activities

Qualifications

Education: Currently enrolled in college or recent graduate preferred

  • Enthusiasm for nonprofit work and community engagement

Preferred:

  • Previous volunteer or work experience in events or nonprofit sector
  • Familiarity with event management software or databases
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) a plus
